AIB - Better Ireland

AIB awards €1.82 million to 546 local children’s projects throughout the country

Voting for the 2009/2010 AIB Better Ireland Programme closed at midnight on 15th March with an overwhelming 602,172 votes received online and by text. This is 100% more votes than was received for the 2008 programme and a huge demonstration of the public’s commitment to supporting their local children’s projects.

AIB’s 182 main branches now have €10,000 to award to local projects and the local community have decided how the funding will be divided. Projects have been ranked according to the number of votes they received, first place with the highest votes will receive €5,000, second place €3,000 and third place €2,000.

Brenda Moriarty, Head of Brand Management, AIB Bank said:

"We had a tremendous response to the public vote again this year with a record number of 602,172 votes cast throughout the country. We would like to congratulate all the short listed projects for their work in campaigning for votes at a local level and we look forward to seeing how the funding will benefit the local children’s projects throughout the country."
