Schools, creches, youth clubs and special needs projects are just some of the children’s projects that have applied for funding from the AIB Better Ireland Programme 2009 /2010 using the on-line application form. The programme again received huge interest, with 1,276 children’s projects applying before applications closed on Friday 27th November 2009.
Applications are currently being assessed by the local branches and a short list of three projects for each branch will be announced in January 2010. The short listed projects will then each receive a share of the €10,000 with the amount varying depending on where they are ranked after the public vote with the project in first place receiving €5,000, second place €3,000 and third place €2,000. The winning projects for each branch will be chosen by the local community through a public vote from 15th February –15th March 2010. Further details of the voting process will be announced shortly.
Brenda Moriarty, Head of Brand Management, AIB Bank said:
"We are absolutely delighted with the success of the call for applications for the AIB Better Ireland Programme 2009/2010. Community participation is a fundamental feature of the AIB Better Ireland Programme and we are all really looking forward to the voting stage and hope that local communities throughout the country will get involved in choosing the local projects that rank in first, second and third place. Local nomination, local voting and local benefit are what the AIB Better Ireland Programme is all about.”
